Welcome to the Wiki of Urban
This research group was founded in September 2008 by Professor Tom Barker. Tom was joined by PostDoc Dr M. Hank Haeusler later that year. Our PhD students Martin Keogh, Ashley Hall, Michelle Douglas and Jon Sawdon Smith joined the group in 2009. The UrbanAid group is based at the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building (DAB) in the University of Technology Sydney, as a pan-faculty research group.
The UrbanAid group currently has 1 director, 1 PostDoc, 4 PhD students, and 2 research assistants.

UrbanAid has three major research streams:
(1) Urban Digital Media Research (UDM)

Focusing on the integration of media technology in architecture, kinetic-cybernetic-responsive environments, foundation research media architecture / media facades, development of non-standard and complex curved media facades, Chromatophoric Architecture.

(2) Next Generation housing (NextGen)
